LAHORE: Hizbul Mujahideen (HuM) Supreme Commander Syed Salahuddin said the US decision to designate him as “global terrorist” will not make any difference to the “legitimate” struggle he led for “freedom” in India-held Kashmir, reported a local English website on Saturday.
Salahuddin was reacting to the US State Department’s announcement of designating him as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, at a press conference in Muzaffarabad.
He termed the Donald Trump administration’s move as “idiotic” taken to “please and satisfy” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi “without any reasoning and grounds”. Salahuddin alleged that the Islamic State (IS) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were being backed by India, Israel and the US to weaken Pakistan.
