MOHMAND AGENCY: Three terrorist attacks at border checkpoints along Mohmand Agency were thwarted by army personnel on Sunday night, resulting in the death of five soldiers.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the shoot-out between the terrorist and armed forces also resulted in at least 10 terrorists being killed, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed grief over the loss of soldiers’ lives in the in the incident but emphasised that, “Terrorists must be denied freedom of movement along the border”. He also lauded the immediate response of the personnel.
Mohmand, one of the agencies of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, has been a hotbed of violence during the war on terror.
A suicide blast near the main gate of the Mohmand Agency headquarters in Ghallanai, last month, killed five people including three security forces personnel were martyred.
On the same day, another suicide attacker struck in Mosal Kor area of the agency.
The terrorist tried to enter the office of the area’s political agent, however he detonated himself when security forces obstructed and tried to apprehend him.
