ISLAMABAD: Bank account details of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and his family have been submitted before the National Accountability court (NAB) court. The case is being heard by Justice Muhammad Bashir, before who the record of Ishaq Dar’s bank account and the bank lockers in the name of the finance minister and his wife was presented.
According to the details, the first account presented before the court was opened in October 2001 and remained active till October 2012 while the other one was opened in August 2012 and was active till August 2017.
It is pertinent to mention here that the court has declared Ishaq Dar an absconder in the case already. On Monday, the court had declared the finance minister an absconder and had also ordered him to submit bail bonds worth Rs 5 million.
The prosecutor in the case had argued that Ishaq Dar’s medical reports were contradicting each other, proving that he was not suffering from some heart disease but was just avoiding the courts.
Meanwhile, Islamabad High Court (IHC) has also turned down the senator’s plea to provide him exemption from appearing in person before the court. The plea was heard by Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurang who were told by Dar’s lawyer that his client was unable to appear before the court due to his heart disease and thus needed exemption from the court proceedings.
However, the plea was rejected because the lawyer wanted Dar’s return subject to the approval of the doctors. The judges remarked that an indefinite exemption could not be granted because if the minister was unable to provide a return date, it could possible mean that he did not plan on coming back to Pakistan.
