LAHORE: Ex-PM Nawaz Sharif expressed grave concern over the growing fissures inside the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Saturday at his residence, Jati Umra.
Senior party leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Minister for Pakistan Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and Chaudhry Muneer were present. On the occasion, Nawaz Sharif discussed the strategy to hold the party together, and to avoid uncertainty.
It was decided in the meeting to launch a mass campaign to mobilize public and PML-N supporters ahead of 2018 general elections.
The PML-N is scheduled to hold a rally in Abottabad on November 12.
Earlier, Nawaz Sharif had summoned a meeting in London where Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and a number of senior leaders participated. The leaders decided unanimously not to accept “minus Nawaz formula”.
Nawaz Sharif had returned from London on November 2, to appear before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court, where he is being tried for graft charges.
Nawaz was escorted to the Punjab House from the Islamabad airport by Airport Security Force (ASF).
