ISLAMABAD: The Indian deputy high commissioner was summoned to Foreign Office in Islamabad on Monday to lodge protest over the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces at Rukh Chakri and Rawalakot Sectors on Line of Control (LoC).
On the occasion, South Asia and SAARC Director General Dr Muhammad Faisal condemned the ceasefire violations resulted in the shahadat of three civilians, and injuries to five others, including a woman. He said the deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights laws.
The DG said ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation. He urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement, investigate this and other incidents of violations, and instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the
Earlier, a 10-year-old boy was killed early on Monday after Indian troops opened fire on Pakistanis. “Due to firing, one Asrar Ahmed, age 10 years died on (the) spot,” a police statement said.
