ISLAMABAD: An FIR was registered against the release of toxic materials into Rawal Dam, which led to death of tones of fishes in the dam on Saturday.
The FIR was registered at Secretariat Police Station on the complaint of Rawal Dam’s management.
It is to be mentioned that it was revealed that toxic chemical was being discharged into Rawal dam, which led to death of tones of fishes.
Tones of fishes have died in three days after people from the local mafia reportedly discharged toxic material and chemical into the Dam. It is alarming that water is also supplied to the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi from the dam.
The contamination of the dam might lead to serious health issues in the twin cities. Agriculture Research Centre has confirmed the presence of toxic material in Rawal dam’s water.
It is to be mentioned here that a few days ago, the management of the dam had disallowed the local mafia from fishing and boating. In retaliation, the mafia has reportedly released toxic and poisonous substance and chemical into the dam.
