RAJANPUR – A joint operation of the Punjab Police and other law enforcing agencies – which was started from April 5 in slum areas of district Rajanpur’s Tehsil Rojhan against the Chotu gang – continued for 18th consecutive day today in Punjab, as authorities sought army’s help to eliminate the gangsters.
According to the authorities, this operation against the criminal gangs and other terrorists is moving ahead and will be continued till achieving the required targets against the criminal elements. During the operation three policemen got martyrdom, four police received injuries and 25 cops missing. However, three active members of Chotu gang also died and several received injuries.
On Wednesday morning by following already devised operational strategy the force moved towards the hideouts of ‘Chotu Gang’ and his accomplices, they started firing on the force. The Police personnel also retaliate and cross firing was started which resulted in the death of chief of ‘Chotu Gang’ Pehlwan alias Pallu. Whereas his several companions were also get injured.
The operation, named Zarb-e-Ahan, is being carried out at slum area of Indus River between Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan. According to our correspondent, IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera held a meeting with Corps Commander Multan and requested for military’s help in the operation.
