KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Corps Headquarters and Rangers HQ in Karachi on Wednesday where he was given a detailed briefing on operational preparedness of the formation and security situation in Sindh, particularly in Karachi.

ding to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) wing of the Pakistan Army, the army chief was briefed on the overall accomplishments of the operation and the way forward.
The COAS commended the army, Rangers, law enforcement a

gencies for a marked improvement in the law and order situation. General Bajwa said that Karachi is the economic hub of the country and security in the metropolis has a direct bearing on overall business c
limate and economic activity across Pakistan.
The army chief emphasised that all out efforts would be made to consolidate the gains made during the operation, ad
ding that the indiscriminate elimination of the remnants of terrorists and their sleeper cells would continue.
General Bajwa particularly lauded the suppo
rt and sacrifices of the people of Karachi in this journey towards peace, the statement added.
The army chief made it clear that gains achieved during the operations will not be allowed to be reversed and the operations will continue till attainment of sustainable peace.
He directed a focused and synergised effort of all military and civilian intelligence a
gencies for optimum effects to pre-empt potential threats to peace of Karachi.
The COAS said that Pakistan Army will render all necessary assistance to the provincial government for capacity building and training of law enforcement a
gencies to enable long term effectiveness against organized crime and enduring peace for Karachi, the statement con
cluded.
