ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said on Sunday that arrangements had been made to conduct the July 21 general elections in a peaceful manner.
Talking to the state-run Pakistan Television, he said the Election Commission in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had computerised all voter lists and nobody could cast bogus votes.
He said that military personnel had reached all constituencies to maintain law and order on the election day. He said that ballot boxes had been shifted to polling stations.
He said that security would be beefed up at sensitive polling stations to avert any untoward incident.
The Election Commission has made available the voter number confirmation through Short Massaging Service code 8302 for registered voters. Voters can send their national identity card numbers to 8302 to confirm their voting details.
In a related development, AK-6 Bagh Brigade Commander Mr Javed told district returning officers (DROs), returning officers (ROs) and deputy commissioners of four constituencies in Bagh that military personnel would be deployed inside and outside polling stations on the election day to make the election process transparent. He asked the candidates to remind their supporters to bring their computerised national identity cards to polling stations.
He said the army would fully cooperate with the local administration for transparent elections. He said that troublemakers would be dealt with an iron hand. He said that election material would be given to DROs and ROs under strict security and security would remain in place until announcement of election results.
