PESHAWAR: The Quetta terrorist attack has demanded effective implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) to exterminate terrorism from the country.
It requires national cohesion by focusing on strengthening present democratic government to exterminate the menace of terrorism. This was the main gist of the comments obtained from the leaders of various political entities of Khyber Pakthunkhwa who were unanimous on defeating terrorism with iron hands by rising above party politics and shunning the petty differences in their ranks and files as it involved national integrity and solidarity.
While commenting on the barbaric terrorist attack in Quetta last night, Wajid Ali Khan – ANP leader and former provincial minister – said that killing of innocent recruits was highly condemnable act and the time has come that all provinces should implement NAP in letter and spirit to wipe out terrorism completely.
“The terrorist attack on police training centre at Quetta reminds that terrorism was still existed in the country, which needed a collective struggle and successful implementation of NAP by all the provinces to root out this menace completely,” he explained. He highlighted the need for implementing the NAP effectively to meet the present day challenges in effective manner before the things went worst.
The ANP leader said that such tragic episodes would continue to happen if NAP was not implemented in letter, and spirit adding agencies involved in curbing this menace needed to be strengthened besides serious efforts required to block all the ways and means of funding of banned outfits. KP and Balochistan being in the fore front of terrorism were the worst hit provinces and the recent tragic episode in Quetta reminded us to address the core factors that were leading to the spread of terrorism.
The ANP leader regretted that the PTI handed over the KP to agitators and sloganeers leaving the basis problems facing the common man behind. Instead of supporting federation in fight against terrorism, the PTI Chairman was trumpeting Panama papers that have no concern with the ordinary citizens. “Everybody knew what PTI had done with former Director General KP Ehtesab Commission when he raised finger at their own men,” he lamented.
“There was no justification left with PTI for November 2 sit-in in Islamabad following start of proceeding in Supreme Court on the issue of Panama leaks and urged PTI leadership to withdraw its protest calls, and wait for the Apex Court verdict.” In presence of fully functioning Parliament and independent judiciary, there was no need to protest on streets and who would be responsible if law and order situation worsened during PTI’s protest in Islamabad,” he said.
He also said that if democracy was derailed, the whole responsibility would be laid on the protestors. PML-N parliamentary leader in KP assembly – Sardar Aurganzib Nalota – said that all political forces agreed on NAP as it provided comprehensive guidelines to defeat terrorism. Work on implementation of NAP was successfully underway in the country and it was producing very positive results, adding owing to present government’s effective strategy under the NAP, incidents of terrorism had been significantly reduced and overall law and order situation improved in the country including Karachi, Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Balochsitan.
The PML-N government after coming into power had started decisive operation Zarb e Azb that had broken back of terrorists and destroyed their hideouts in North Waziristan Agency, he said. Referring to Quetta’s terrorist attack, the PML-N leader said that enemy through such cowardice attacks was making unsuccessful attempts to block CPEC and deprive people of development.
He also said that all the major international economic and financial institutions had declared PML-N government’s great success on economic fronts while the protestors were trying to create obstruction in development of the country. Former President Pakistan Peoples Party KP and Ex-Senior Minister – Rahimdad Khan – said that the attack on police training college in Quetta reflected the barbaric and deadly mindset of terrorists that they had no regards for humanity and religion.
He also stressed about the need for successful implementation of NAP, which was unanimously passed in All Parties Conference (APC) following APS attack in Peshawar. Rahimdad Khan said that political instability, economic imbalances, corruption and low literacy encouraged terrorism and urged all political forces to get united and work for strengthening democracy which was remedy of all ills. He said that PPP was supporting democracy as it was the only system which could address people’s problems.
He advised Imran Khan to withdraw its protest call on November 2 following Quetta terrorist attack and extended full support to government in fight against terrorism. He said national cohesion was imperative for successful implementation of NAP and great responsibility lied on federal and provincial governments besides state institutions to ensure its implementation on ground to avert Quetta like barbaric incidents in future.
