ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is presiding a session to deliberate upon the deteriorating situation along Line of Control (LoC).
Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, National Security Advisor Nasser Janjua and Inter-Service Intelligence DG General Rizwan Akhtar are attending the meeting.
The prime minister said that Pakistan had exercised patience at the ceasefire violation by India. “However, we will not tolerate deliberate attacks on innocent civilians,” he asserted.
Nawaz said that the Kashmir issue was “unfinished agenda of the partition”. “We will never stop supporting the freedom struggle of Kashmiris.”
The prime minister was told that the Indian forces also targeted ambulances carrying the injured. The meeting called for the international community to take notice of the murder of innocent civilians. It was maintained that India is trying to divert international attention from human rights violation in the occupied valley by employing such tactics.
Earlier on Wednesday, at least nine civilians and three soldiers were martyred and several, including women and children, were injured as a result of unprovoked Indian shelling at LoC on Wednesday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Indian forces carried out unprovoked artillery shelling in Neelum Valley at the LoC. The ISPR placed the death toll at seven civilians martyred and 11 injured.
The ISPR added that Pakistani troops responded in a befitting manner to the Indian aggression during which seven Indian soldiers were killed.
According to the ISPR, three Pakistani soldiers also embraced martyrdom. Those martyred include Capt Taimoor Ali Khan, Havildar Mushtaq Hussain, and Lance Naik Ghulam Hussain.
Following the incident, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif held a special meeting at the Corps Headquarters Rawalpindi to review the LoC situation. He said that deliberate targeting of innocent civilians on the Line of Control (LoC) is unprofessional and unacceptable.
The Foreign Office summoned Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale and lodged a protest over the killing of its citizens and troops.
